Here’s a painting I did a while back of Cuban poet, Jose Marti. The painting was done with acrylic paint on canvas. My intentions were to capture the portrait in its realistic vintage form and later digitize it to play with the background and add several color variations so I can create a collection of funky merch with it.

(Fun fact) Jose Marti and I share the same birthday. True story… When I was born, the mayor of Hialeah at the time gave me the key to the city, which I accidentally broke when I was around two years old. (Oops!) There was also a furniture store back then called “La Canastilla Cubana”, where my mom received a bunch of gifts and other items for babies, some of which she gave to other mothers in need.
